Our Mission at WFAHS is to provide a safe, healthy, and caring environment for the animals under our care as we search for their original owners or a caring adoptive home. Our mission is also to help reduce the pet population in our parish.
Our animal shelter was founded in August 2012. A community member and animal lover, James "Bo" Bryant left a legacy when he donated the funds to begin the construction of our shelter. Before 2012, animal control was operated with a few holding kennels behind the parish jail. Now, we are able to operate a full-time animal shelter thanks to Mr. Bryant's generosity and love of animals. Our parish has moved from saving less than 10% of the parish's stray population, to now saving more than 95% of the stray population per year!
#ClearTheShelters is here! @Hill's Pet Nutrition is matching all donations to our shelter, and we need your support! Donate now to help us save as many pets as possible:

Recently West Feliciana Animal Humane Society received an amazing grant from the #PetcoLove Foundation to support our Guardian Angel program.
Guardian Angels sponsor dogs or cats who require extra medical care due to severe malnutrition, special surgeries, etc. WFAHS requests support donations from the community when these situations arise. Most commonly this fund pays for amputations, hip surgeries, hoarding case emergency vetting, and critical heartworm care.
This grant has already supported nine (9) animals with medical conditions that required surgeries for leg amputation, twisted intestines, broken pelvis and knee surgery. One of our beloved animals came to the shelter with her brother, who passed away, but she was saved because of this grant.
West Feliciana Animal Humane Society appreciates everyone who donated to #PetcoLove Foundation while shopping! We are grateful for the support of Petco Love.
